Ok, so here is a compiled list of all the best info we have gathered so far....

You can catch Boss Fish with Boss Bait available for purchase at the item store. Boss Bait costs 100 stars for 50 baits. Boss Bait will increase the frequency of bites from the Ancient Fish you are trying to catch.
Use ss or sss chum to increase bite rate. As expensive as they are, you'll want to make sure to use them wisely.

You will be given up to about a minute to battle the beast every time they bite. Some have shorter times others slightly more. Knock down as much health as possible and repeat the process...more on strategy to follow. If you cannot hook the beast in 3-5 minutes, don't be surprised to see it's health a bit higher than you left it the previous cast. Another reason to make sure to use ss or sss chum.

When the battle begins, the health bar will be blue instead of green. This blue bar is the first 20% of the Ancients' health and the hardest  stage. You will likely go through many boss baits just to get through this first 20%. Battle the Beast through this blue bar and the health bar will become full and green. It is here you can really strike. It seems the Ancient gets a little easier at about 75%. You will likely have to purchase another 50 Boss Baits to complete the catch. You will also be able to RETRY (for 4 stars each) up to 10 times per day. It is recommended you save these RETRY uses for after you have gotten the Ancient below the 40% gold reel stage.

Strategy 1:
Ftf for as long as you can filling a skill bar and using it before the beast can counter (blue mode) and before red hook snaps your line. Use the rest of the timer to deal damage in the old fashioned way.

Strategy 2:
Battle the beast the old fashioned way, until the last 15 seconds and then ftf the remaining time using skill bars every chance you get.

There are 4 times per day that you can fish for these beasts: 16-17:00 PST 18-19:00 PST 04-05:00 PST 06-07:00 PST You can catch only 1 of these dinos at each session.

 megalodon is at midnight port. This is the hardest dino to catch and it is at midnight port every sunday. Max effect is elasticity *2 - 7 12* VERY HARD

Remember, they will follow this order except for on Sunday,when megalodon is at midnight port.
