Thanks to my friend Will, we have these amazing counter blue vid to discuss. Please feel free to comment and post anything you do differently. iPad being used. You can really see the difference in speed with apple vs android. You can also see the perfect technique for rftf during gold reel and ftf during normal reel. This is the same technique I use, but thanks to this video, I've become much better at countering the blue counter.
A few tips:
In the first video, notice how once the octo gets brought closer, line is let out to give it distance. The reason for this is because if it goes "blue" it will travel to the opposite end and stop. No "bouncing blue". The newest video shows how to plan for the "bouncing blue". If the fish in between 20M and 40M, plan for it to bounce. Notice in the video that the rod is set to roughly the center. This is in anticipation of the bounce that it will take. If the fish is under 20M put your rod where the fish started it's "blue" mode and, with a bit of luck, you'll counter that one as well. These are all works in progress. Please post your own results and any tips you find. I know the first video has helped me greatly and am looking forward to trying out the next.
