Beginners Guide

Welcome to fishing superstars...

This post is intended to provide beginners with advantages through the insight of experienced players so that they may make the most of their stars and coins.

I will skip over many obvious details and go in depth with many intricate procedures.  If you feel at any point you can explain something better or that I missed a critical kernel of knowledge, please feel free to comment and add to this post.

Beginners may feel free to post questions of any sort here.

When Picking the Man or Woman - the woman has more skill and the man has more strength.

Save your stars! - you will need them for equipment
(Do not spend them on feeding fish, upgrade scrolls, or unlocking levels)

Add Friends - you should always have 100 active friends in order to maximize daily gifts and requests along with congratulatory gold additives.

Have 5 fish in tank that your friends can feed - this makes it easier for their daily visit to reap energy.  Especially if your tank is not the most fishable (no star fish) This is common courtesy.

When further along... people prefer to catch fish that are worth stars in your tank (egg fishing).  Keeping only fish worth stars in your tank, increases the odds they may drop an egg, when grown, will also be worth stars.  Once you can establish a "star fish only tank" i recommend it.

Always gift daily! (Energy as a beginner)  Always Request Daily!  (Upgrade Scrolls)

Daily requests can be made certain ways.  For instance, if you were to select your fishing pole and attempt an upgrade, if you did not have enough scrolls in your inventory to do so, there would be a button prompting you to request your friends.

YOU CAN ONLY MAKE ONE REQUEST FROM YOUR FRIENDS PER DAY!

It is important to use the "President Effect" under "My Info" ---> "Label"  by highlighting an accomplishment and using "Set Typical Label".  This increases your stats x2 the + of the Label

Train, Train, Train, then train some more... always... till maxed!

It may be wiser if you are going to make a purchase to consider packages.

Always feed your friend's fish or practice fishing before using your energy items.

Events are a good way to gain an edge, catch what you can to take advantage of certain rewards.

Never forget to repair your equipment not only can this be expensive eventually, but your stats may even suffer.

The further you cast the more serious the fish, the better the cast, (Normal, Good, Excellent, Perfect) the better the fish. ALSO THE MORE DIFFICULT TO CATCH!

Quests, Events, and Competitions are optional.  You cannot win anything from the weekly ranking amongst friends.

You may swipe the rod after it is cast on your screen to hook the fish giving you a better chance of getting a perfect.  You do not need to jerk the phone towards yourself.

If you need to delete an inactive friend, click at the gear icon in the top right of the main screen referring to settings.  Then click manage friends and select carefully.

When reeling a fish normally.  You should always hold down your reel as to not let the fish regain life when its icon goes purple.  One should maintain the tension of the rod (green to red bar second from top)  so that you are always gaining special attack power (yellow gauge on bottom)  this will allow you to swipe the screen more frequently when an arrow appears on the rod.  This renders fish unconscious at times as well as dealing a significant amount of damage.  (special works better while fish is in the green or yellow.)  When fish is red or "flashing" you should hold for about a second and let go for a fraction of a second as to only allow .1 meter of slack free from the fish.  This gives you more time before the fish just races out and in between it may turn yellow or green at which point you may reel in.  Ultimately you want to deal enough damage to K.O. the fish or bring it in close enough to catch.

Hope this helps and will keep everyone updated!

    1. What kind of bonuses are you talking about? If it is the epic bonuses, you've got to fish at midnight port. When you catch an EPIC fish, you will receive special effects from that fish when it is ranked SSS and in your aquarium.

  3. Hi there, I got a couple of questions: although i'm already at level 21 i have massive problems with the fishing sites. In fact I'm only able to catch fish at blue fog mountain range. Even at Manglo River i can't manage to get a catch. (equipment: solo wise +2, flame glasses +1, flame vest, army gloves, hawaiian pants, utility walker; trainig stats: STR: 100, AGL: 86, CON: 78). I tried diffrent strategies in reeling, but nothing worked so far... Am i using the wrong equipment or are my stats to low? I have NO idea! Second question: The money i'm earning with the catched fish is barely enough to pay for new bait and repair the equipment. Maybe this is related to the first problem. Third question. How can i add friends. The only option whet i tap the "add friends" button is to connect with facebook. Is there an other possibility? Thank you all very much.

    1. Let me see if I can help. First of all, get some good friends. Now that you have found this blog, post your in-game ID in the friends request section. Just follow the examples of others who have posted there. After adding some friends, request upgrade scrolls and upgrade your equipment every day. Details on that can be found in this thread. Hopefully you have read everything on this page in detail as it is all very good and accurate information. I recommend not repairing your equipment. Each time you upgrade it, whether you fail or are successful with that upgrade, your equipment repairs automatically. Save your gold and for the time being, stick with c-baits. Once you get strong enough, start "farming stars". I will go into more detail on that once you get going a little more. Remember this...this game is not one that you can conquer in a week or even a month. It takes time and patience...much like real fishing. Train every single opportunity you can. Do not spend stars!!!!

    2. 1) Your stats are way too low, train constantly and buy higher grade rod (because the rod is the key to fish better in this game). Then you will see the progress.

      2) This problem goes hand in hand. What you should do for start.
1st - with that stats buy better rod, like Hurricane or Star Seeker (best if you can get some star rod), otherwise you wont get any further in this game. Also in the beginning use you daily "rare and epic" lucky cupons to try get some better rod there (when I being around lvl 20 get "Hero A Rod" in lucky cards, this changed everything).
2nd for start I would suggest you to use "lower" grade equipment, like first buyable gold or stars equipment (probably buy them in "Package" item page), as yours current gold one you are using, is just eating up the gold and doesnt give the necessary stat boost, as it is too high and expensive for your level. Also, gold equipment just s*cks. And dont upgrade your gold equipment for now (too high repair costs), upgrade ONLY your fishing Rod!! 3rd ask for upgrade scrolls your friends, gather experience and read some additional info in comments section here: http://fishingsuperstar.blogspot.com/2013/01/beginners-guide.html

      3) when you are in your account, click the human image icon down-middle the screen. then you can choose add a friend between "Recommended search" and "Find by typing name". No need to connect with facobook.

      Should somehow help

  4. Thank you both very much. I repeat: try to get a better rod. Do not repair, but upgrade rod. Do not repair or upgrade other equipment (afraid that it will break sometime). Get friends ==》get upgrade scrolls. Boost the stats. Read more blog ;-) thanks again. I'll keep you posted how it all develops.

    1. You must need more scrolls for your next upgrade than you have....for example; my highest rod is at +16. It takes 70 upgrade scrolls for an attempt to go to +17. If I have 70 or more scrolls, I won't be able to request friends. I must use at least one so that I can request them. Have you gotten a Star Rod yet?

  6. Any tips on how to efficiently run a 3* tank? I have a full tank of gar and others but getting them to SSS takes quite awhile I was wondering if it'd be better to sell half of them at d rank and only keep a few to get to SSS, any input would be appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you are feeding as much as possible, you should be able to feed them from egg to SSS with about 1 to 1.5 days. As you increase your stats with training, better rod, and better equipment, your fish will grow faster when you feed them. At this point you'll see a dramatic increase with how fast they reach SSS.

      Delete
    2. I had no idea training and equipment had an effect on it o.o.
I've got the golden man set for equip so I'm doing OK with that.
I'm just stuck waiting for a better rod ATM I have the infinity rod cause I got it through a lucky card coupon but high repair costs and no ftf sucks.

      Delete
    3. HUGE effect!! Max your training stats ASAP. Don't try to upgrade your rod if you can't afford to lose the stars. Get a Star Seeker Sonic or Hero D on the next rod sale if possible. You'll be able to FTF with either one.

      dinkdink

      Delete
    4. By saying max training stats asap do you mean I should use stars to speed it along?
And currently my infinity rod is +12 haven't tried to upgrade it to 13 because I figured it be a waste of scrolls coin and potentially stars. I've been working on getting my equip up hat is +12 everything else +10/11 what's weird though with the rod and hat(hair in my case) I had maybe one or two fails tops but the my pants and other pieces after hitting +10 I've been having a harder time , it also hurts quite a bit when it downgrades 2 levels x)

      Delete
    5. Do not spend stars on your training. Just gold with the 2 hour wait. What I mean is try to be there every 2 hours to train again. Just like visiting your aquarium to feed...do it regularly and often. I wouldn't upgrade your rod any more. It is high enough for a rod that doesn't FTF (just my opinion). Your gear I think is fine too (again just my opinion). What you really need is a FTF rod. From there, you'll be able to get a FTF rod and the stars will become easier and easier to get. Then you'll be able to get better equipment and afford the upgrade fails.

      dinkdink

      Delete
    6. Well my gear stats wise is marginally better than pirate gear and marginally worse than assassin. It's in between the two as far as stats go so won't really need to get new gear until something considerably better than the assassin gear comes out. Like you said it's pretty much all up to waiting to get a FTF rod as my stats aren't bad : 23xx 21xx 15xx 71; but lack of ftf still makes it hard to catch monster fish :(

      Delete
    7. Also keep in mind that you are comparing upgraded equipment to non upgraded equipment. The assassin and pirate gear at +10 is considerably more powerful than the gear you've got at +10.

      dinkdink

      Delete
    8. I'm actually comparing them before upgrades when first obtained , now if say pirate gains more stats per upgrade vs my set I'm not sure I'm going to see if I can find out but both sets at stock pirate is weaker.

When all decked out, the male character looks "golden" to me ;P You've got a great set already and I wouldn't focus on any changes in gear for the foreseeable future. Definitely focus on that rod. It'll make a world of difference as long as you can learn the FTF technique.

  7. The star seeker rod is 250 grand. I'm stuck at about 50000. And the next problem is, that i'm slowly running out of upgrade scrolls. Because i keep upgrading the actual rod instead of repairing (as i have been told). I keep trying to fish at kalde lake, manglo river, but I can only get about every 10th fish to land. That's no way to make money. But the fish at fog lake aren't worth much either... Also I can't finish the daily quests. Guess I have to be patient... DraGhul

    1. What is your rod at? If it is already fairly high (10+), stop trying to upgrade it and request energy from your friends (hopefully you are nearing 100?). The star seeker you need to focus on is the star seeker sonic. It is 900 stars. If you are going to get a gold rod, start with the Platinum rod. That's what I did. From there, I was able to catch and farm 3 star fish. Once I had enough stars, I bought a star rod.

I train every 2 hours and usually a few times during the night also every chance I get. I am not able to catch anything bigger than a dophinfish. is that about right for my level and points. I have tried and tried to catch bigger using S ranked bate and everything but the fish always swim away and I cant real them in without tension being to high. Any thoughts?

    1. You are doing the right things. Keep training every chance you get. What you need to do is start breeding 3 star fish. Get some friends through the friend request section that have 3 star fish. You need to fish in their tanks every day and get eggs. When those eggs reach SSS you can sell them for 3 stars each. Save stars to buy a star rod (star seeker sonic at the very least). Then save more to buy a better rod. This is not a quick and easy game. It is highly addictive and takes a lot of time. Don't rush it and get a 3 star tank ASAP. It will make all the difference.

  12. Is gold really that hard to get throughout the whole game. At about 300 or so average per fish and you need 750,000 gold not including buying bates and repairs that is 2500 fish... At later levels do the fish start paying 2,000 or 3,000 each without leveling them up to SSS rank? Or are you destined to farm forever in order to get a halfway decent rod?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The only decent rods in this game are the ones you get with stars. I have every star rod from Shark the Blood to Ocean Tyrant and I have not had to pay any real money. This game takes time. I can average about 1,000 gold per cast in a couple of places. It takes time to get there, but the key is STARS!!! Star rod, star equipment, star farming every day! Stop raising gold in your aquarium and get some 3 star fish in there along with 100 friends with 3 star aquariums. Fish their tanks every day.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Three star fish are different than fish ranked three stars (SSS). Any fish can be put into your aquarium and fed and sold at SSS. When you read this blog, 3 star fish can be sold at SSS for 3 actual stars. You are at the start of this game. This is a game that takes time to become an advanced player. You will eventually be able to breed and grow fish worth 3 and 6 stars for each fish that reaches SSS. Secret garden has 3 star fish. They are alligator gar, nile perch, and goliath tiger. Each one gives you 3 stars at SSS. Keep them in your aquarium and get friends that keep the same. Practice fishing in their aquariums each day and you can get eggs from the fish you catch. Put the eggs in your tank and grow them to SSS to earn 3 stars. Your friends will do the same!!

Most of my higher leveled friends breed killer whales or Atlantic wolffish. No way i can pull them. Of the few friends that breed alligator gar or nile perch i manage to pull about 3 to 5 per day. So far NONE of them have given me any eggs. Am I to dumb, are my stats still to low (I know, they can never be high enough), am I doing something wrong? Please help! And how about the clothing? 1. Fish for eggs every day, have lots of 3 star friends, and increase your luck. Those three things will help the frequency in egg catching. You must fish for eggs every day. Feed 3 fish 2 is what a lot of people do. If you don't have very many right now, fish all 5 and get more 3 star friends. I have 96 out of 100 friends where I can find 6 star fish to get eggs.

    1. The comment below is correct for you. You need to practice. Also, get your rod higher. +7 is not good enough. You should have it at +10 at least. Don't purchase stars, farm them with a three star tank. As I have posted to most everyone on this thread, get friends with Alligator Gar, Nile Perch and Goliath Tiger. Fish their tanks every day for eggs. Feed your fish constantly. Sell your fish at SSS for three stars and replace them with more eggs. Train, train, train and then train more until maxed. These are the things that will further you along in this game. It is not something you will master in the next month. There is so much for you to do still that you need to slow it down and focus on the right things. Catching fish at Kalde isn't as important right now. Neither is getting an Ocean Tyrant.

  18. Dear AnonymousSeptember 6, 2013 at 11:07 AM,

It is purely technique to catch fish at Kalde Lake with your stat, not the rod. Your stats are very good to play there.
I have much lower stat with crappie equipments but I can catch many fishes and shrimps in Kalde Lake.
See: ATT 275 Skill 250 CTR 137 Luck 1. Im using all basic equipment +3 and the original alpha +8.
I think you should learn to catch fishes efficiently first, search on Youtube to see. I watched many clips and I discovered an effective way for myself.
Saving stars for the first good rod is painful for new player, but it is the way this game challenge you before your turning to advanced player.
If I have OT now, then this game will be ways easy and get bored very very soon. Spending more than 100 buds for the rod is not worthy.

    1. sort of. When and if you decide to purchase stars, you must use real money. If you decide to use real money, which I do not advise, use it when you receive an added bonus (sale) like upgrade potions. Periodically, Gamevil will run a "sale" to receive potions with star/gold purchase.

  20. Hi all, I'm on Line Mass Fishing and its exactly the same as Fishing Superstars both under Gamevil. As there's no forum for Mass Fishing I stumbled this forum and thanks I've learn a lot from you guys here. Lately I've been trying to catch Black Wel Catfish but when using FTF the hook next to the meter turned red and snap few times. I've tried normal and slow technique but failed too. For your info I'm using Shark the Blood got it from epic card and each time I wanna upgrade from +9 it always decrease to +6. Whats the cause? I know my stats are low - 14++,12++,8++ but I train every 2 hours and my equipment are purchased from gold except the red wolf boot which came from epic cards. I'm saving stars for equipment slowly. So which area do I need to improve on? Thanks in advance.

    Fadzli

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you FTF for too long, the hook will turn red and the line will snap. You need to catch them quicker, or when it turns red, stop FTF and use normal technique. If you still have trouble, wait on trying to catch it until you've got higher stats. By the time you get to 24++ATT, you should bring it in much quicker.

As for the upgrading of rods, it is a constant frustration here too. It is all chance/luck. You do need to try several times in a row for better odds of success. Don't try to upgrade if you can't afford the repair cost, but getting that rod up to at least +13 is advisable as you will see a big difference in its effects.

    2. The numbers mean the number of times a friend has caught the fish while practicing in your aquarium. So if the number is 3/5, it means that your friends have caught the fish 3 times up till now and 5 is the maximum number of times that the same fish can be caught.

If you tap the "G" coin/button, you will get some gold corresponding to the number of times it has been caught. I think you get 20 Gold for each friend catch, so for the above example you would get 60 gold when you tap on the G which says 3/5.

    1. i think OT is a must for hunting big fishes or farming barb eggs from friends' tanks! with about 450 stars, you'll need about 1000 more stars for the next rod sale! Assassin set will boost your total stats/luck, but you will have a difficult time saving stars for another rod sale! depend on your situation, if you feel a strong need for rod, grab OT by star farming. if you feel comfortable with StB, grab the set!
